Hi Amir,
I’ve just finished your book today and I wanted to say thank you so much.
I had my operation on March 20th in Birmingham and I’m back to work, almost full time but I’ve been left with a right facial palsy that is slowly (very slowly) getting better. It’s left me unable to blink properly in my right eye so I’ve been having to stick a small weight to my eyelid which helps but can be irritating and frustrating. Last Sunday, I got very irritated putting it on and ended up shouting at my 9 year old daughter for taking my phone charging cable. Utterly ridiculous and over the top. I apologised but the damage was done and I felt I needed to talk to someone about it. I was aware of https://www.bana-uk.com/ so decided I should register to get involved and I saw a page about your book. I immediately got onto amazon and started reading on Friday.
Your account was so familiar and I’m struggling with the grief of what I was and what I’ve lost i.e. balance and hearing in my right ear. When my right eye is irritated I stagger around even more making me feel more isolated and not so aware of my surroundings. Your recovery was much longer than mine as you had more to deal with so you should feel proud on how you’ve come through it. I remember my 2nd night at home following the operation and I had headache and dizzyness/nausea. I had to get up and sit on the side of the bed as it was so bad. I remember saying to my wife that I couldn’t go on like this but I did and it passed. Your recovery was longer and more severe than mine and you made it. The nausea is miserable and just removes any quality of life.
I hope my post is the start of many more from me and others.
Take care
Cheers,
Jason
